Susto and other titillating temporalities

Set in the interwoven contexts of Dominican cultural migration, queer love and thought, and the New York City beat, this collection of braided poems and short stories invite us to be with and offer tenderness to women and girls, mothers and daughters, working through unresolved intergenerational trauma. Susto is colloquially used in Dominican Republic to describe a wounding event being lodged in the body. This project is a practice in inviting medicine and give where these calcified stories live within the physical and spiritual bodies of women and girls. Becoming as a practice, finding home, and softness as wisdom are emerging themes within this literary journey.
